Richard J. Davies received his B.A. in Natural Sciences, with a concentration in physics, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. In 1986 he graduated from the Law School of the State University of New York, where he was a member of its Moot Court Board.
Mr. Davies is a shareholder of Powell, Trachtman, Logan, Carrle & Lombardo and his practice focuses on the representation of engineers, architects, and other design professionals, as well as manufacturers of complex products. He regularly acts as their consultant in contract negotiations and risk-management matters and handles claims and litigation initiated against them. For example, Mr. Davies regularly handles cases involving claimed design defects in significant commercial structures; delay, acceleration and extras claims in large public construction projects (such as those arising from construction of the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Lehigh Tunnel No.2, and the Kimmel Center); malpractice claims against scientific experts; wrongful death and serious personal injury claims arising out of construction projects and the operations of industrial manufacturing facilities; and claims of "sick building syndrome."
Mr. Davies regularly lectures on professional liability issues for engineers and architects and other design professionals, and is a speaker at seminars and lectures sponsored by various professional societies addressing issues relating to technical design requirements, professional liability, and litigation avoidance. He has also authored numerous articles on these subjects as well.
Mr. Davies has substantial experience in various state and federal courts and alternative dispute resolution forums and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
Mr. Davies is the co-editor of the PTLCB&L Design Professional's Practice Bulletin.
