Bruce D. Lombardo graduated with honors from Villanova University in 1966. In 1969, he received his law degree from the Villanova University School of Law, where he was selected as a member of the Villanova Law Review. Before joining Powell Trachtman, Mr. Lombardo was a Senior Member of the Philadelphia law firm of Harvey, Pennington, Herting & Renneisen, Ltd.
Mr. Lombardo has substantial experience in the handling of complex litigation in the areas of professional liability and insurance coverage disputes. He has concentrated his practice in the representation of architects, engineers, and others involved in the design and administration of commercial and industrial construction projects, and has handled such cases in numerous state and federal courts and arbitration forums. His experience in the construction field has involved virtually every aspect of the construction process. Mr. Lombardo also handles a wide variety of other complex matters such as, for example, products liability claims (ranging from strict liability suits to class action product liability litigation instituted by the federal government), the defense of claims brought against other professionals (accounting and legal malpractice claims, claims made against professionals in securities litigation, etc.), and numerous other matters.
Mr. Lombardo has lectured extensively in the design professional and construction law fields. He has served on numerous seminar panels dealing with issues that affect design professionals and others in the construction industry, and he has been invited to participate in national forums in connection with issues that directly affect both design professionals and the insurance industry. He has also authored articles in connection with the design professions and has participated in litigation which has established important precedents in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with respect to design professionals.
Mr. Lombardo is a member of the bars of the state and federal courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, and the National Society of Architectural Engineers.
