Manufacturers and Distributors
Powell, Trachtman has substantial experience in representing manufacturers and distributors. Many keep us "on call" for advice on the day-to-day problems they face. We have substantial experience in all facets of the employer-employee relationships that manufacturers and distributors must cope with, from unionization campaigns to employment liability claims. We draft and review customer, supplier, vendor, consulting, distribution, subcontracting and all other sorts of agreements that are needed in the manufacturing and distribution fields. We handle real estate leasing and purchasing issues. We handle state and federal regulatory matters. We understand trade secrets and intellectual property issues (and maintain a network of third party sub-specialists that we involve in projects to the extent merited). We understand e-commerce and the special and evolving laws that apply to Internet activities.
We also handle business structuring and planning, including buy/sell and similar agreements among the owners, agreements with employees, choice of entity matters, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships, licensing agreements, succession planning and exit strategies, and so on.
Finally, Powell, Trachtman has substantial experience in the products liability field, particularly in defending manufacturers of complex products against claims of serious personal injury and death. Several of our attorneys trained and/or practiced as engineers. We know how to read plans, we understand engineering concepts, and we understand the manufacturing process.
