Richard T. Abell received his B.S. in 1972 from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was designated as an MIT Scholar. In 1975, he received a J.D. from the law school of the University of Pennsylvania, with honors. Mr. Abell's practice is focused on civil litigation, both in commercial matters and bodily injury claims. Mr. Abell has represented contractors and other defendants in jury trials in various Pennsylvania counties and federal court in regard to bodily injury claims and commercial disputes arising from construction accidents, asbestos claims, and other events. Mr. Abell also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to the representation of municipal entities as to sewer and construction matters, including condemnation, bidding, and construction phases, and in the resolution of contract and construction disputes, through mediation, litigation, and arbitration procedures. Mr. Abell has come to Powell Trachtman after having been a senior partner with another Montgomery County firm where he practiced for over 25 years. Mr. Abell is a past president of the Montgomery County Trial Lawyers Association. |
