Michael W. Kulakowski is a 2007 graduate of Rutgers University School of Law-Camden, where he advanced to the finals of the school's esteemed Moot Court competition. Upon graduation, Mr. Kulakowski served as a law clerk to the Honorable Francis J. Orlando, Jr., Assignment Judge of the Camden County Superior Court.
Following his clerkship, Mr. Kulakowski was an associate at a large New Jersey law firm, where his practice focused on various aspects of commercial litigation including, for example, breach of contract, construction, land use and zoning, insurance and eminent domain matters, as well as on federal acquisition, labor law and regulatory issues.
Prior to joining Powell Trachtman, Mr. Kulakowski worked as a litigator for a prominent employment litigation firm, handling matters related to employment discrimination, civil rights, and whistle blowing. He also has extensive experience in the preparation of employment agreements and the representation of web design and software development firms. Mr. Kulakowski has also counseled companies in matters involving E.P.A. compliance, and is the author of "U.S. EPA Regulation of Nanotechnology", published by the New Jersey Law Journal, December 6, 2010.
Before embarking on his career as an attorney, Mr. Kulakowski received a degree in Geography from the Pennsylvania State University, and later a Masters of Science in Geography from the University of Oregon, specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartography, and Environmental Science. Following graduate school, Mr. Kulakowski worked as a faculty research associate for the Pennsylvania State University Institutes of Environment as a cartographer and GIS developer, and later as a GIS developer for the United States Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Kulakowski is fluent in Polish, and is an avid cyclist, trail runner and sports enthusiast.
